I love that contemporary Christian song that says: "I'm so thankful that I'm incapable of doing any good on my own!"

I think this is key: "we should be spending more time seeking the Lord, or else we will just be on a physical diet."

This is so true. I find myself sometimes when I am doing something and if it was not ordained by God, I become frustrated or it does not work out. This is year is about us really trusting God and having the faith that he will help us and guide us.

Great topic, thanks Pastor Bailey! I am struggling to enter into rest about some of my family who are not walking with the Lord (esp my sons). I got three words the other day: anticipate (help & provision of the Lord) trust (that He is able & will do exceedingly abundantly above all that I could ever think ask or imagine) & rest (in Him knowing that He is taking care of everything that concerns me & will make all things beautiful in His time!)

God Bless!

Just take the royal family as an example, the sons and daughters of the king or queen need not to worry about anything material wise. However, we the children of God have it much better, we are taking care both spiritually and physically. We have to humble ourselves first as little children, with a childlike faith, totally depending on our Heavenly Father for everything.

Pastor Bailey, this is such an good lesson here at the beginning of a new year when people are making resolutions and thinking about fresh starts. We can make no changes, go in no new directions, or start any new venture without resting in the Lord. If we try to go it alone, we will be frustrated and unsatisfied with our efforts.

What does it life look like when we rest in the Lord?
